Oktoberfest is Germany's largest Volksfest (beer festival and travelling funfair) ,which has been held since the year 1810. At that time, in order to celebrate the wedding of the Royal Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig I, the citizens were invited to attend the festivities held in front of the city gates to celebrate the royal event. People of all classes get together enjoying numerous attractions, such as amusement rides, side stalls, and games. There were a large quantity of free beer and a wide variety of traditional foods available during the festival, which has become an international carnival today.
Every year from the third Saturday of September to the first Sunday of October, tourists from all over the world, dressed in costumes of Middle Ages, gathered in the colourful tents on Theresienhohe. There are band performances from time to time in the sheds; while outside the sheds, various types of rides are also set up, such as the Roller Coaster, Ferris Wheel. The venue becomes an amusement park where adults and children can both have fun.
